The new recycling system in The Forge lets you get back half the ores you used when crafting weapons or armor. Instead of losing all your materials when you make bad equipment, you can now break them down and reuse those precious ores for your next craft. In this guide, I will show you how to recycle ores in The Forge and how to get some materials back to your inventory.

What is the Ore-Recycle System in The Forge?

The recycling system is very valuable for everyone playing The Forge. When you craft a weapon or armor piece, and it doesn’t turn out the way you wanted, you don’t have to just sell it anymore. You can recycle it instead and get 50% of the ores you used back into your inventory .

This is super helpful when you’re working with rare ores that you’ve spent hours finding. Mining for these materials takes forever, so getting half of them back is way better than getting nothing at all.

How to Find the Recycle NPC in The Forge

After the latest small update, you can now recycle your items at three different locations in The Forge. Talk to the Wo NPC at these spots:

  • Forgotten Kingdom Town, close to the Picaxe Shop
  • Frostspire Expanse Town, close to the Forging Station

Just walk up to Wo and start a conversation with him. You will see the option to recycle your items in the dialogue menu.

How to Recycle Ores in The Forge

Now, here are the steps on how to recycle your ores in The Forge:

  1. Find Wo at one of the locations above and talk to him.
  2. Select the second dialogue option that says , “I want to recycle my items.”
  3. Pick the weapon or armor you want to recycle from your inventory.
  4. Check how many ores you will get back . The game shows you exactly what materials you will receive.
  5. Pay the recycling fee and confirm your choice.

The ores will go straight into your inventory after you confirm. Just make sure you have enough space in your bag , or you won’t get anything back. The recycling system gives you back exactly 50% of the ores you used when crafting .

However, if you used only one ore of each type to craft something like a Dagger (which needs only 3 different ores), you will actually get all three ores back because the game rounds up.

How Much Does Recycling Ores Cost?

Recycling in The Forge is not free. You have to pay money equal to the sell-value of the item you’re recycling . For example, if your sword sells for 400 gold, you need to pay 400 gold to recycle it. The rarer your equipment recipe, the more money you’ll need to break it down.

Should You Recycle or Sell Your Ores?

This depends on where you are in the game and what kind of item you are dealing with.

You should recycle when: You have weapons made with Mythic, Relic, or Divine ores. Getting these materials back is way more valuable than the gold you’d get from selling. Mining for endgame ores takes a really long time, so even getting half back saves you lots of grinding.

You should sell when: You’re in the early or mid game, and you need gold more than ores. If you don’t know how to make money fast yet, selling might be your better choice. Also, sell if the items you used are only common ores that are easy to mine again.

For late-game players with lots of gold, recycling is almost always better. You can farm money pretty easily at that point, but farming rare ores stays hard the whole game.

Remember that once you recycle an item, it’s gone forever. You can’t undo it. Make sure you really want to break down that piece of equipment before you hit confirm. The recycle system is one of the best updates The Forge has gotten. It respects your time by letting you reuse materials instead of forcing you to mine everything from scratch again. Just keep some gold saved up for recycling fees, and you’ll be able to experiment with different builds way more freely.
