What If Eris Is Imu? The Wild One Piece Theory You Need to See - 1

If you’ve been keeping up with One Piece’s ongoing God Valley Incident flashback, you already know that every new chapter answers one question, only to raise ten more. And the recent theory after Chapter 1162 might just be the wildest yet: what if Eris is Imu?

It sounds ridiculous at first, but the similarities add up in a manner that leaves you wondering if that is really a coincidence. From strange transformations to impossible survival stories, there’s a pattern here that feels far too intentional to overlook. Let’s break down this theory.

Was Eris’s Connection to Imu Planned All Along?

#OnePiece pic.twitter.com/6v4jIZ9lel — Gear Five ✘ (@GearFiveOP) May 30, 2025

It all starts with a name. On Imu’s strange magic circle at Elbaf, the word “Eris D. Tar” appears. Just a few chapters later, we’re introduced to Eris as Rocks D. Xebec’s wife in the God Valley flashback .

Odd, right? But it gets stranger. The Davy Clan , who have been hidden from Imu’s reach for eight centuries, are suddenly discovered by Figarland Garling right after Rocks sends his wife to God Valley. Garling even calls it “fate.”

Coincidence? Possibly. But given that Garling almost certainly acted on Imu’s order, it is not difficult to believe that this “discovery” was carefully staged.

We’re not necessarily saying that Eris is Imu, but she could very well be a pawn, someone acting under Imu’s influence or carrying out Imu’s will from the shadows. Imu might have planned this when Rocks infiltrated Mary Geoise.

The Mysterious Transformation of the Davy Family

Here’s where things take a dark turn. The Davy family, excluding Eris and Teach, was found to be turned into demons. Who did this? Garp and Roger never felt Imu’s presence at God Valley before this transformation, and neither Saturn nor Gunko were possessed at that point.

That would imply that someone, or something, else was at fault. If Eris was indeed Imu in disguise, it would explain how the event unfolded right in front of everyone without notice.

Why Did Eris Go to Lulusia, The Island that Imu Later Erased?

Before the God Valley incident reached its climax, Eris promised to reunite with Rocks in Lulusia, allowing him to fight Garling and the Davy Clan without worrying about protecting her or young Teach.

Note that this is the same Island that Imu personally chose later as the target for the Mother Flame, a “random” decision that even caught the Five Elders off guard.

That can’t be a coincidence. If Eris and Imu are the same person, or Eris is Imu’s pawn, then the choice makes perfect sense; it’s a homecoming.

The Strange Fusion of Imu and Saturn

#ONEPIECE #ONEPIECE1162 This is somehow less terrifying than Gunko Imu, he looks like a noodle in the wind pic.twitter.com/uQjxe4M9XF — Tora 🍉👒🍊🦌 Read Undead Unluck💀🍀 (@ToraTetsuya) October 9, 2025

During the God Valley flashback, Imu arrives at the Island by fusing with Saturn, creating a horrifying new monster. But back in Elbaf, when Imu possesses Gunko, the process looks completely different. Why would the same entity have two separate forms of control?

The theory suggests Eris (Imu) was physically present at God Valley, allowing a direct fusion with Saturn. Imu didn’t show up in person in Elbaf; it was just their will that was in Gunko’s body. Chilling, maybe, but it fits the pattern: the closer Imu’s physical body is, the more complete the transformation becomes.

Was Eris Always Manipulating Rocks?

Just think about that for a minute. Xebec falls for a woman who seems to share his ideals and loyalty to the Davy family. But what if she was not really an ally at all? What if she were the ultimate infiltrator, Imu in human form or his pawn, sent to observe and eventually eliminate the Davy line from within?

In Chapter 1162, we see Imu asking Saturn whether or not Rocks was defeated. Imu may have assumed that leaving Rocks to face Garling and the Davy Clan’s demon army would be enough, perhaps believing that Rocks wouldn’t go so far as to kill his own family: his father and grandmother.

If it were Luffy, his plan might have worked. But it’s Rocks we are talking about. He didn’t hesitate for a moment to strike them down.

That would explain why Eris abandoned Rocks in battle, vowing that she would kill Teach and herself if they got caught. That would also explain why Rocks had a breakdown and was angry at God Valley afterwards. The woman he loved most could have been his greatest enemy all along.

The Sinbad Connection: Eris, the Goddess of Chaos

The similarities are uncanny. The One Piece version of Eris can be directly inspired by this mythic archetype, a character that represents chaos, trickery, and divine manipulation. It strengthens the idea that Eris wasn’t just another pirate; she was chaos personified.

Why the Theory Makes Disturbing Sense

#ONEPIECE1162 It coud the truth after all Imu can’t physically leave Pangea Castle, this is why some of the marked ones like Gunko or Saturn end up as vessels. pic.twitter.com/KtYVnvHIgf — gi ☁️🍊🗺️🧭🦁🌻 (@NamiOrigins) October 10, 2025

If Eris was Imu from the very beginning, or even just acting as Imu’s pawn, then her actions at God Valley were far from a coincidence. This was a centuries-old master plan. Imu infiltrated the Davy family, manipulated Rocks into creating Teach, the one destined to become the Antichrist-like figure, and once their purpose was fulfilled, erased every trace of that era from history.

It is not a shock that the Five Elders and the Holy Knights tread carefully around Blackbeard . If Teach is connected to Imu’s bloodline, eliminating him might be impossible, or even forbidden. This might even explain why he doesn’t sleep or could hold two Devil Fruits.

Final Thoughts on the Theory of Eris Being Imu

Let’s summarize this theory. Oda has carefully scattered hints linking Imu and Eris throughout the story. From her name appearing on Imu’s magic circle to Sinbad’s resemblance, everything suggests she’s connected to Imu in some way. Whether she actually is Imu or simply acts as his pawn remains to be revealed.

Maybe it is too far-fetched. Maybe it is utter nonsense. But when you connect every dot, it is difficult not to believe that Oda has been teasing this for a long time. After all, in One Piece, the craziest ideas often turn out to be the closest to the truth.
